Better Living Subdivision* was a performance within a constructed room of limited space. Laborers under white smocks and masks work non-stop and in tandem to produce large quantities of product. intuition, an idiosyncratic component of Kuh Del Rosario’s process is replaced by mechanical motions and arbitrary decisions. Work stations have been formed to distinguish each step in the assembly line. These are simplified gestures distilled from Del Rosario’s practice. The products produced in Better Living Subdivision are small scaled sculptural works using ingredients derived from common everyday materials and deconstructed objects. They are packaged and made available for purchase at the end of the performance.
*Better living Subdivision is named after a gated community located in the Municipality of Paranaque Metro Manila, Philippines.
