Cutty Contemporary Art Gallery: (off site projects) is pleased to present the forthcoming exhibition of two Vancouver artists Kuh Del Rosario and Patrick Cruz. An investigation of space using different intuitive strategies of installation, Sub Citizen reveals the pre-existing exterior of the gallery as a site for potential discourse in conversation with Del Rosario’s material practice and Cruz’s performative works. Del Rosario delineates the false kitchen façade of the gallery and determines it as a site of production and display while Cruz empties the gallery’s office in exchange for a site of monetary exchange. Both artists renew the space by treating them like a blank canvas while consciously pointing out the mediations of architecture and the abstractions of familiarity within the politics of a space.
